Barnsley to Knottingley Routing

Would a Barnsley to Knottingley return be valid changing at Leeds instead of changing at Wakefield Kirkgate?

Can't find anything in the routing guide about it.

From what I can see it is only valid via Wakefield (or Goole, but that won't be of use).

I don't think it's valid via Goole.

1. Direct trains are valid (none in this case)
2. Shortest Route is valid (likely to be 21.75 miles as follows)
   • Knottingley

   • Featherstone
   • Streethouse
   • Wakefield Kirkgate
   • Darton
   • Barnsley
3. Mapped Routes:
   PONTEFRACT GROUP - Barnsley:
   • SY

Pontefract Group is an appropriate routeing point for Knottingley.
Goole is not an appropriate routeing point for Knottingley as it fails the fares check rule.

I therefore conclude:

• You have to go via Wakefield.
• You cannot go via Leeds.

You have a few options, as far as I can tell. I don't know about service frequency in this area, so you decide what is the most sensible.

1. Head up to Kirkgate, and go directly to Pontefract via Streethouse etc, or via Castleford or Woodlesford if you prefer.
2. Go down to Meadowhall, and then up to Swinton. From there head up to Wakefield Westgate (no, you can't go directly to Pontefract Baghill), and through to Kirkgate and onwards as in step 1. This way makes no sense.

Short answer: no, no Leeds.
