If i was to go to Barnetby on a Saturday is it worth going as I have to travel from Leeds?

Also What type of locomotives or units apart from class 66s on freight am I likely to see?

All depends what you want to see!

Saturdays at Barnetby are nowhere near as busy as weekdays,
but you should still see an average of two freights an hour.

As for locos "other than 66s", the empty tanks from Westerleigh
is usually a class 60 turn, but most other trains are DB/FHH 66s.

...as i have to travel from leeds ?
Doncaster would be far easier to get to - not quite as much freight,
volume wise as Barnetby, but you tend to get engineers trains,
charters, light engine convoys, etc at Doncaster which more
than makes up for it.

In conclusion, the only reason most people visit Barnetby is because
of the semaphore signalling - if that doesn't bother you, it probably
isn't worth making the trek from Leeds just to see a few coal/ore trains!

There are 185s and an occasional 153. Although there might be loads of loco hauled trains, many of them have the same locos on shuttling back and forth. Saturday might be slightly different but I would guess that the main difference would be that those locos would not appear quite so often. If you have never been there, though, it is worth going. As said above, however, Doncaster might provide more variety, although Saturday might be quieter than midweek.

Thank you for your replies. Your input and thoughts are very welcome.

I've never been to Barnetby, I only wanted some freight photos and I'm starting to think now Doncaster with more variety of locomotives and rolling stock is the better option. :D
