Bargain berths and teens

Quick question. I'm looking at booking Bargain Berth tickets for my 13 year old son and myself in the summer. I know they will go quickly, and I know Scotrail want you to use telesales for children.

So is there any problem booking two adult tickets online and effectively upgrading the boy to an adult fare (I know this is OK on normal tickets ) - I assume two tickets bought together automatically share a cabin any way. Or do I need to be trying to ring telesales the morning they release tickets for my desired date (a Wednesday happily) and will they offer the same bargain berth tickets as the new "improved" website?

I would just book online as 2 adults - afaik no child discount on bargain berths and cannot be booked by phone.

Just book two tickets online. You will be given the same cabin in all likelihood (Berths 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, etc).

If not, arrive early on the day of travel and the attendant would be happy to accommodate you in the same cabin by switching other people around if needed.

Given that the 13-year-old will be accompanied throughout, I don't see any reason why ScotRail would get funny about it.

Quick update. Tickets went on sale this morning, two £29 berths bought, both in the same cabin, so happy me! Lowland sleeper, Wednesday train in late July, all BB tickets had gone before 09:30 on day of release. Didn't know what time they went on sale so checked every 10 mins or so from 8 onwards. Thanks again for helpful advice
