Bargain Berth advice

Apologies if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move if required.

I want to go to Fort William in late Jan (Thu 24th provisionally, returning either Sun 27th or Mon 28th) and have noticed the Bargain berth deals.

The only thing is I live in Stafford, and the train stops at Crewe (around 23:55) would I be allowed to alight/depart from Crewe rather than London or are these treated like Advance Tickets?

Seems a bit mad to go all the way down to come all the way back!

Book them from Crewe if possible. You have 15 mins to claim your berth at Euston or it can be resold at the trainside (or more likely to a seated passenger who didn't realise that they'd booked a seat & now wishes to upgrade).

Also, that said, I do think that BBs are traeted like advances so no changes to the booked journey.

Thanks for that, never knew they re-sold the berths (its probably on the website and I've just not noticed it as yet!)

You can't book them from Crewe. This was always the case before they changed the booking engine, and I've just tried it with the new one doing identical trains from Euston then from Crewe. The Bargain Berth fares aren't available from Crewe. Seems a bit ridiculous to have to double back but it wouldn't be valid to join at Crewe with a BB from Euston!

Yes, that is correct. Tried it myself. I don't know why this is the case?

I much preferred the calendar view in the old booking system. Much more user friendly.
