I’m sure most people are fully aware that this bank holiday weekend Coventry station is closed to all rail traffic for engineering works presumably to do with the new bay platform. However this means that Avanti will run the Preston service to Birmingham Intl with one train per hour running between London & Birmingham via Nuneaton using Doubled 221 Voyagers. However my question is: Will this diversionary service call at Nuneaton or will the extra Stafford to London train call at any Trent Valley station? I ask as the national rail enquiries website says the diversionary train will stop whilst Avanti are saying it won’t with myself needing to get to Nuneaton this weekend. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Follow up question, does anybody know exactly what is happening with regards to the world this coming weekend?

The Voyagers arent stopping I believe, and its nothing to do with the bay platform (that still is a long way off) as its track renewal.

The NRE Journey Planner doesn't show a Nuneaton stop. I would take that as more reliable than the engineering works text.

Looks like the fast London Midland service is unaffected by the works so you should be able to use that to get to Nuneaton

Is there a thread on here anywhere in relation to what they're actually planning? I've done a quick search but don't see anything obvious

In terms of the physical work, or the timetable? RealTimeTrains at somewhere like Coleshill Parkway filtered on Avanti will easily show the services.

You need to do a search on NUCKLE, its not a NR led scheme so its a bit all over the place from what I can tell. The bay is a good 18 months away, if not more, I reckon.

Slightly off-topic to the original question, but I notice Avanti are also affected by engineering work in the Liverpool area over the Bank Holiday weekend, with the following details:

"Trains will be diverted between Crewe and Liverpool Lime Street via, but not calling at, Stockport and will not call at Runcorn.

These trains will call additionally at Warrington Bank Quay to connect with replacement buses to / from Runcorn"

Surely this is not correct, as Stockport would be a huge diversion? RTT/journey planners show Euston-Liverpool services going via Warrington Bank Quay and then down the Liverpool-Manchester line from Earlestown, which appears to make much more sense... is Stockport a mistake here or are the timetables likely to change again?
