A trip like none I've done yet...! This time I opted to visit Belarus, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, a trip that could've gone sideways easily...!

3-12 360119 corby to Luton Airport for the bus to the airport

G-WUKO to Kaunas

Bus to station

EJ575-002 won to Vilnius

A few hours leg stretch

On with Euro lines retro coach TO Minsk Belarus 30 Euros

Border grip was pretty tame compared to many even with 4x Ukraine stamps in the book!

Arriving at Minsk at 6.35am, the night coach was rough...

Anyways it was straight to business

4-12 as it is now

CHS4 429 to Barahovinchy for a few hours lineside for freights and it did not disappoint! 2M62 M62 and a variety of other soviet era stuff and modern imports! no hassle linesiding here!

Did a couple of RVR riga unit moves around there

CHS4T's 0601 0595 won to Minsk where I went to do some soviet tourism such as the Famous kfc and some night photos then stayed in a soviet era tower block for some much needed sleep! 7 euros!! booked accomodations on ZenHotels app and paid by card no issues! cash points etc work. For Taxis use Yandex Taxi App but payment is cash cos of sanctions!

5-12 it was a tourist viewing in Minsk before
148Ч , Kaliningrad Pass Yuzhny - Moscow Belorusskaya with CHS4T 595 Minsk to Orsha
RZD CHS4T 429 did a shunt move of this train along the platform scoring my first Russian State loco!
A day around Orsha included a visit to Orsha Depot and got a few numbers if anyone wants them happy to sort that! plenty of RZD action around!
2M62 1096 on 6618 17:39 Orsha to Vitebsk stayed in a nice hotel for2 nights just over the river in Orsha for 45 quid for 2 nights including my birthday! had dinner at a nice steak house and a few shots...

6-12 birthday
2M62-0261U to a local shack
2M62 271 back

TEP70 009 won to the same shack
for 2M62 1071 back to vitebsk
went for a pizza and some evening night photos! and trams and trolley buses etc!

7-12 times to get to the EU in one piece...

TEP70-377 606B , BREST-CENTRAL - POLOTSK From Vitebsk then a yandex cab to a lineside spot but sheet ice meant we spent a lot of the trip going sideways in a 1983 Lada 1300! Proper old school motor

No hassle linesiding but it was extremely cold. So a few 2te10s later I gave up. And went to do tourism and urban exploration stuff

The Dautrans coach from Polotsk to Daugavpils Latvia. an extremely intense border grip with a money sniffing dog!

8-12 off to Estonia for pizza and a C36-I

RVR Modernised DR1 to Riga for a christmas market mooch and stock up on grub for the 3 hour run to Valga!

Rvr DR1A 2101 Riga to Valga and Return... Numb backside

Went to park cafe in Valka for a pizza that was so big I could not finish it
C36-i 1536 and a TEM18 shunter were noted there
back to riga for a few night photos before time to sample the new stuff...
Vivi Skoda Panter rv16-0030 to Jelgava to stay at a Hostel £11

9-12
Depot observations from footpaths around a few locos but not much...

Rv16-024 to Jelgava

Linesiding for a few freights

Impressed you attempted Belarus. I salute you for your bravery and I hope you had a good time there. I would really really like to go (as much for the chance to find rare books in the Belarusian language as to ride the rails; I actually prefer buses to trains because they get closer to the actual sights) but I'm taking the geopolitical situation as an opportunity to see places beyond my comfort zone such as Armenia and potentially the historic cities of Uzbekistan.

If you are looking for another Eastern European train trip, though, try Gdańsk to Bialystok through the lakelands of Masuria. There's much more to see on that route.
