Hi, just wondering if you was successful in this role would you be classed as a qualified driver? The advert mentions nothing about driver psychometric testing? But the title is driver operator as opposed to other vacancies for operator maintainer. Thanks in advance!

No different type of driver. This would be job for railwayman it would eventually qualify you to drive (or get the ticket for it as we call it) on track machinery, like tampers, to help repair and maintain the track.

You'd be a fully qualified driver after training and hold the same UK train driving license as other drivers on TOCS and FOCS. But you'd also have to learn to operate the tamper too.

Thanks for the replies. I did think this. But the advert didn't mention driver psychometrics like their job adverts for other locations for OTM driver operator.

You'll be driving it on the mainline so you need the same competencies as any other driver.

I think you may be incorrect.

Once passed out you would be a fully qualified train driver the same as any other ETD Licence, except your traction would be OTMs. The operator part is for the operating the tamper/OTM when in possessions.
