Today:
Riding the Bakerloo from Baker Street and 3256 + 3444 turns up northbound.
Ride it to Queen's Park.
Camera at the ready. Film would on. Switched on. Focus set.
Get off train. Lighting is perfect. No people in the way either. Refine focus.
Train pulls out to go into shed.
Press button.
Nothing happens!
Blind, curse, swear, must have mis-pressed it. Ah well, it's in the shed, it'll be back out in a few minutes.:roll:
Train emerges to run back to Elephant & Castle. Ready... on... aim... focus... press...
Nothing happens!!!

A quick check establishes that the linkage must have disconnected; the lens pins are operating correctly and the trigger catch moves properly under finger pressure.:cry::cry::cry:
Double drat - I knew I should have paid extra to have the whole camera overhauled when the lens problem was being sorted out recently. It's worked OK since then, most recently two weeks ago on the 1st.
Serves me right for being stingy I suppose.....
So... I've now got to find 3256 all over again next time I'm in London!!!:roll::-x:roll::-x:roll:
This time with my older Praktica L as my interim camera ( not going to rely on the automatic compact again, several pictures did not come out properly with that one although others it took were, I admit, very good - but it just can't cope with the dynamic range of railway photography ). At least I wasn't too stingy to buy a new lens for the Praktica L off the repair man when the Centon was being fixed.
( Before anyone asks; the original L lens was scratched which is why I didn't use it as my back up camera when the Centon was out of commission before ).
