Backdating old train information

Is it possible to backdate train information?

So a train that I took 2 months ago from Leeds at a certain time - is there a database that I can access to get the number of this train?

No, you can get details of timing, but not what was allocated to it.

Please share any information you have re the date, time, service origin, service destination, headcode, operator, class etc. if you’re comfortable doing that. Hopefully someone may have it down somewhere. Alternatively, railmiles may have it, but can’t remember how far back it goes.

Charlwoodhouse goes back about 3 years or so from memory but only realtime timing information, not stock allocations.

Oh shoot, thank you for replying! So just to confirm its absolutely not possible to get the numbers of a train that I took from 2 months ago, that information is only possible to get on the day when you look at the train?

Oh thank you there's a couple trains, ill have to sit down and work out the times i got them, they're all going far back as 2 months ago - ill have a look at railmiles and hopefully it will say

Thank you all for your help! I'm doing this as a gift by getting all of the train numbers together for someone, they'll love this and its looking likely I might be able to get it, I'll check out charlwoodhouse and railmiles

Yes, thats what I meant by 'stock allocation' - the actual individual train or trains used to operate the service. I don't know of a public source for that historic data unfortunately.

realtimetrains will give you the unit numbers since day one of this timetable (assuming they show and they are no VARs etc), but 2 months back was the timetable before.
You have to change the date in the URL.
Charlwoodhouse does give the specific Train UID for previous timetables.
I've tried changing this in the URL too and it unfortunately doesn't work.

Forgot to add that some TOCs, LNER for example, erase their allocations overnght on realtimetrains.

RailMiles will now go back a year, but obviously only for the TOCs that are on ‘Know Your Train’.
