Dreadful! - When bashers were having a good day they would get "wound up" and start saying things were "absolutely dreadful", or "Hellfire". This would on occasion be accompanied by much waving of the right arm (you had to see it really!).

I always have to do a bit of a self check when a Normal uses the word in its more regular sense.

The beauty of it is that you'll see a good chunk of those you need just from time at Lime Street or Central and then moving on to Sandhills. It becomes more problematic when you're chasing a more limited number it would seem I'd definitely recommend a trip past the depots though, was definitely good advice that I picked up on here (and also maybe a trip to New Brighton as I think some units can be stabled there during the day). I still reckon there is plenty of time before they start to disappear although the 777 did venture out of the depot for the first time the other night so things are starting to move in that regard now.

Me and my squad regularly start work at 6am on Sundays, but recently it's been pushed back to 5am just to give us extra time to do the job. Which currently is still not enough, with the world health crisis going on, so on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays we're starting at 4am until further notice.

Yes, me and my squad start work that early! So on Friday I'll have breakfast by half 3 in the morning!

There was a young lad in the north east who copied the practice, but he misheard what was being said. The only basher to shout "Mallards" as he was flailing.

Well if you do that, I'd check with the store of your choice if they'll actually be open. My store's normally open right through 7am Mondays to 10pm Saturdays, closing until 11am Sundays then closed again from 5pm Sundays until the Monday mornings. *However* it is alleged my store is closing between midnight and 6am tonight, in a bid to get *something* available on the shelves for tomorrow. A tall order for the night team, given how destroyed my shop is.

Don't forget staffing levels are low at the moment as it is, plus sickness on top of that, so we're at about 50% of the staffing levels we should be. And people wonder why the shops are empty...

Makes sense for the store to close during the quiet hours, the Asda in Andover used to be 24 hours until a couple years ago when it changed to midnight closure, reopen at 6am. I guess the demand for the overnight shift wasn't enough to warrant paying extra staff to man the self-service checkouts.

And with the store closed, you don't have to worry about keeping aisles clear when unloading cages.

Well if you do that, I'd check with the store of your choice if they'll actually be open. Personally, I'd rather spend time helping others around me that need the help during this world health crisis. I dread to think what nonsense is on Facebook currently, sadly most of society is obsessed with 'checking' social media. I've never understood that, 'checking' Facebook etc. As if people are checking to see if it's still there. If we were being more accurate, 'checking' would be replaced by 'wasting time on'. All the scare-mongering spreads like wildfire, and the majority of my colleagues and friends are all falling victim to it

I've been scrubbing the kitchen in my shared house, the bathroom can wait, and my own room has been decluttered as much as possible. That was a more productive use of the morning as far as I'm concerned, and I've already offered help to my housemates if things get tough. Since I'll have to go to the shops anyway, I can bring back supplies if needed.

The more we all support each other at the moment, the better we'll be. So I'm glad you're clearly doing your bit!

I try and do my bit haha. I'm certainly aiming to maintain my own personal hygiene as a priority as I can't do much about what others do. However, I do now wear my winter gloves when I go shopping if I know I am going to be handling a trolley or a basket and amazingly, I seem to attract a few strange looks

As for Facebook and social media in general, on another forum I use someone who now lives in Spain told us all a story of the local ex-pats heading into a frenzy because someone had started a rumour that everyone needed to be indoors because the authorities were going to be sending helicopters over which would spray the area with a disinfectant that was dangerous to humans but would cleanse the area of Coronavirus People rely on it too much and that is why it's become a breeding ground for fake news and crazy rumours and is also one of the many reasons why I don't use any of them

Is it wise for me to mention I've had 87002 for haulage, from Euston to Milton Keynes, way back in their final year?

Me too Tech, I think I had it from Carlisle to Glasgow Central in the late 80s early 90s.

87101 was a bugger to get and was my last one think it was on Crewe- lime street in dirty BR blue mmm lovely

I can't remember having 87101, I know it was my last one to see, damn thing always avoided me. I actually caught up with, as I was on an 86, can't remember which one, as we pulled into Preston, it was leaving, so at the time I remember thinking I was quite lucky to get it. I was going back via the West Coast after a day out at Derby and Crewe. I think I only ever seen it in Carlisle twice after that too. However, leccy bashing between Carlisle, Penrith, Oxlenholme, Lancaster and Preston, roped in a large percentage of the 87s for haulage, probably just over 2/3rds. At the time it used to drive me crackers trying to rope in the 87s but I always seemed to land on 81s and 85s without even trying. Nowadays I'm delighted I did.
My Apologies Mr Train, I'm hijacking the thread, some great reads there squire, good to see you roping in a good number of stuff and enjoying some good trips out there. Some good pics too, obviously the 47s always appeal to me, especially double green and an 87, christ on a bike. The chopper pics bring back a few memories too. TE's Railfreight 20s on the Tees Scarborough Express. This is not my photo and I regrettably can't find the persons name who took it (my humblest apologies to the person that did) but I was on this to York.

Also 20096 and 20107 leaving Waverley on GBRf 15 up to Inverness, thrashed so much you could feel the vibration in the front coach, also that day on the ELR, the choppers were immense.

Maybe xot and I are from an era, where the zing killed loco hauled services. One summer move Mr xot will be fully aware of was the summer Saturday timetabled Glssgow QS-Scarboro, usually booked an NB 37 or 47, this was replaced by an HST. They then plagued other turns. Hence my hatred of the things at the time too.

Oh yes anything 47 related, then you've got my eyes and ears.

Yesterday I drove past a very empty and forlorn looking local station and saw a Pendolino.
Today I went out for a walk and saw a XC Voyager departing as I headed over the bridge by the North Junctions.
