Now you are making me jealous, although 1979 wasn't too bad!

Haymarket seemed to have a knack of acquiring traction from just about anywhere.Monday 14th September 1981

....and so did Eastfield! Over the years, I've been hauled from Glasgow to Helensburgh by a Longsight 25, Perth to Glasgow by a Healey Mills 40 and Glasgow to Stranraer by an Immingham 47....among others.Haymarket seemed to have a knack of acquiring traction from just about anywhere.

Yes, certainly no complaints from us about what HA and ED sent out back in those days.....and so did Eastfield!
Saturday 14 September 198547312 was not to escape for long though, as your post 1,787 will show! Unfortunately I had to have a pair of peds to Peterborough for it, but needs must...
Strange. It looks like a test move but assuming it’s come ECS from Paddington at 08+xx (?) it would be a brave move to do that in middle of the peak. Why the same train was double-headed two days in a row is a mystery, to me anyway!
I have no recollection of why I did this move.
Very nice. 376 was oddly the big NE one that followed me around, I had it 7 times including an emu drag from New Street to Wolverhampton, and a memorable day when I was fast asleep in a New Street waiting room at stupid'o'clock on a Sunday morning and was woken up by 376 arriving next to me with a rake of Mk1s. On enquiring what this was, it turned out to be a kettlex to North Wales, so I got on to the mostly empty front coach and promptly fell asleep again to be woken by the hordes descending on it at Crewe where the kettle was be attached! (Sulzerpower says this was 2/7/89, only a month or so before I gave up!)

It didn't have that headlamp or fancy marker light lenses on my runs behind it! I also note that Crewe station looks a lot worse now, showing an opposite trend to most if not all other stations! But I suppose I should be happy that something hasn't changed since my bashing days......Crewe station is still a ****hole!Very nice. Nice. This is actually the only locomotive I regret missing after I'd given up......but I may still get it one day......!Thursday 2nd October 1997

I actually had it well after I'd given up, on a Leeds-KX service in 1998 when I was heading home after the football...Nice. This is actually the only locomotive I regret missing after I'd given up......but I may still get it one day......!
I wish I'd had a trip behind it......it's a very nice looking loco and not short on power!I actually had it well after I'd given up, on a Leeds-KX service in 1998 when I was heading home after the football...

Yes, I had a pair of 50s on that service, also in 1983. I also had a pair out of Padd on 1A34 to Oxford a couple of times the same year. Those workings certainly helped me get through them quicker!Tuesday 4th October 1983

Given the previous double-headers on this train, as per Post #7148, this appears to have been a regular diagram

I didn't appreciate I should've been posting photos as well!It has been a while since I've posted old photos to the thread (which was, after all, the reason I created it in the first place), but the discussion of 89001 has prompted me to fish out the albums.
Firstly, here it is after being preserved for the first time, at the Midland Railway Centre, 19th March 1995:

Back in traffic on the ECML, I was about to have a run behind it out of Bradford F.S. on 30th September 1997:

While I was flicking through the albums, I came across this phot of another loco currently subject to discussion on the SVR thread, and allowing a fair few cranks to get their red pens busy - 37901 stabled at Newport, 8th March 1993:

I don't require any of the nine "proper" 37s operating, and didn't feel the need to go after this not-a-Syphon. Hence I'm on the sofa, not standing at a droplight this morning.
