This is for all those railway enthusiasts who dream of locating the much
vaunted and fabled, British Strategic Steam Reserve.
Of course for many Steam engine enthusiasts, this is the railway
equivalent of finding the Holy Grail, to come across a secret hoard
of mothballed steam engines, primed and ready to hit the rails for
queen and country; the moment the Cold War turns hot during the
decades long struggle between the United States & the Soviet Union.
I could go on but I can see your all foaming at the mouth at the
prospect of seeing these slumbering leviathans emerging from
the depths of their Cold War seclusion.
So lets cut to the chase and roll the film, heres the video from
SWR - simply fast forward the video to 6.33 minutes where you
will see the very moment the investigation team, stumble across
the disused railway tracks that will lead them to the Strategic
Steam Reserve.
The steam engine in question is the B1037 Västkustbanan which
was freed from her Cold War seclusion ( surprising recently ) in
July 2008 !!!
