Can someone tell me why LNER Azumas sit for so long at Lincoln Central, and why such a big gap from about 7.30 to 11.27 for direct London trains.

Between London and Newark they alternate with a York service, which has only a 30min turnround at York.
There is no 0930 from Lincoln (or 0606 from London) because the fleet is as fully committed as LNER/DfT/Hitachi want it to be at that time of morning. There are a couple of EMR trains to fill the gap, but they connect better with northbound trains.

Can we use this excuse all day and cut Lincoln services back to Newark/York

It is a pity the 0927 doesn’t run, there is less of a need for an early morning balancing service from London. But it would fill in a gap at all stations along the line (Newark and Peterborough impacted more then Grantham)

The unit would I assume form the 1206 London - Lincoln - currently formed using the ex-Middlesbrough service. The 0806 missing Stevenage as a stop is always interesting, I assume it has a conflict somewhere.

Going North things are not as bad with Departures to Lincoln 0806,1006, 1206, 1406, 1606 and 1906. I think a balance working would be better at 2106 rather than 0606. But the northbound service is better spread out anyway. Combined with the York service is is pretty much hourly standard pattern between 0706 and 1606 (with the 0806 exception)

I honestly don’t know. It was recently mentioned in Modern Railways and the first thing I thought of was PNBs.
They have 90 minutes at Lincoln, but if this proposal took off then this would be more like multiple 15 minutes. I can’t see EMR staff taking over, but I am sure it needs less crew on such a shuttle.

No you would still need a driver and train manager and it would only be LNER staff.
