On a recent visit to Ayr I saw that the line to the harbour appears to be rusty and disused. Is that the case? There was a big pile of coal at the harbour but sadly evidence of lorries rather than trains. When I was there for childhood holidays it was a very exciting place for trains, with lots of Claytons and class 20, 25, 27, and the odd 40 to Stranraer. Sad to see that it’s now just the uniform electric units, though it’s a good service.

Confirmed no traffic.
A couple of lines next the main line on the west side are useable . They have been traversed by BLS Tour in recent times.
