Aylesbury to Princes Risborough is blocked until est. 2nd Feb due to a "structural defect". Just wondering if anyone knew what/where specifically? Thanks

Urgent repairs to the track between Aylesbury and Princes Risborough means that the line is currently blocked.

As a result, buses will replace trains between these stations today and tomorrow. Train services will be cancelled until approximately 04:00 on Thursday 2 February.

I think it's a damaged culvert under the Aylesbury end.

Don't think so. If I remember rightly it's directly under the points on the branch or something along those lines.

Much confusion at High Wycombe on Friday when the "Aylesbury" service was terminated short on plat 2 (down line) instead of the bay. Cue many announcements and passengers (heading for stations to Marylebone) running up and down between platforms looking worried. The bay was empty, maybe it was OOU.

Is the P Risborough/Aylesbury line actually being deviated for HS2? Presumably over the new (rusty) bridge which has been on site for some time.

Yes, it gets realigned. The rusty bridge is weathered steel

Yes, I posted a detailed drawing of the extent of the site in one of the HS2 threads - here it is:

That does look like significant work to rectify. The defect looks well inside the culvert. I assume it was a routine inspection that picked this up as can't imagine that something so far inside would have been found any other way, unless there were slippage visible above on the surface.
