I just found out I will sadly be moving to Pinhoe, of which's station has about 1ph in each direction (or less).

Are the plans for the GWR Axminster to Barnstaple service to run, because the current frequency will certainly not be good enough.

If so, what stock and frequency will we be looking at with this new service?

What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld
I'm not sure of the exact plans for the future regarding Axminster - Barnstaple services.

Depending on how close to Pinhoe station you are, if you continue along the main Pinhoe Road westbound for a mile, you will come to Polsloe Bridge station on the Exmouth branch. I'm aware that the Exmouth branch as a 30 minute frequency.

Perhaps somebody who's local could advise better?

Indeed it does, alas one of the two services per hour is semi-fast and doesn't call at Polsloe Bridge!

Pinhoe's really a suburb of Exeter --but what are you expecting in terms of frequency - and where are you trying to get to?

It's not like you're moving to the middle of nowhere. And an hourly service would seem perfectly reasonable for a place the size of Pinhoe.

All I can suggest is the GWR franchise agreement, as this Devon Metro stuff is in there, and not mentioned in SWT's current consultation at all. As I understand it, the 2 tph to Honiton or Axminster has always included the existing SWT services:

5.2 The Franchisee shall fully and effectively co-operate with relevant Local Authorities and/or other interested bodies (each being a “Sponsor”) and with Network Rail and act reasonably and in good faith in its engagement with each of them in relation to the following third party promoted franchise schemes:
[...]
(c) Devon Metro
to the extent not already delivered pursuant to the Service Level
Commitment:
(i) development and delivery of the “Devon Metro Phase 1” propositions from the Passenger Change Date occurring in December 2017 (SLC2), involving the provision in each direction of half hourly ‘clockface’ services between Exmouth and Paignton via Exeter. This will expand on the current Exeter / Newton-Abbot to Paignton Interreg-funded incremental service as part of an overall ‘metro’ proposition on routes into and across Exeter, from Barnstaple, Okehampton and Axminster, a 7 day timetable on local services, selected train lengthening, one train per hour between Exeter and Bristol, and opening of new stations at Cranbrook, Newcourt, Marsh Barton and Edginswell; and
(ii) development and delivery of the “Devon Metro Phase 2” proposition of two trains per hour in each direction from Exeter to Honiton (or Axminster) from the Passenger Change Date in December 2018 (SLC3(a) or SLC3(b) (as applicable)),
The Sponsors of Devon Metro are Devon County Council and Torbay Council. As regards the potential opening of the new stations the Sponsors are Devon County Council for Cranbrook and Newport...

buses from Pinhoe are good, in the morning peaks all trains stop at polsloe bridge, otherwise the only ones that stop outside of then are the paington services. so requiring a change at central or st davids. double check, but best bet i think would be to walk up from the station to catch a bus from the heart of oak into town and catch one of the hourly services from central
