How long did you initially think it was? Its not really practical to have the warning any less then 2-3 seconds without getting emergency brake applications every where.

On another note, the warning is only 2 seconds on the German Class 66's that GBRf have.

You sure it isn't 0.2 seconds? !!

Certainly seems that way - supposedly something to do with TPWS MkIV fitted to those loco's.
There's quite a few of our lads that know exactly how long it takes to recreate 5 bar after an AWS brake demand

Definitely only one receiver on a 153, located at the no1 end (the big/original cab end).

153s only have one GSMR unit as well, although they do (obviously) have a head unit in each cab, if you retain registration at one end it will appear in the other end when you set up.

You can't use the GSMR in the opposite cab to the cab that's keyed in (ie if you're the guard) on 153's which is a bit annoying. One good thing though with them is that the AWS sunflower works in the back cab - we have a few stations with a section signal just before the platform. When the train starts slowing down, a quick check of the AWS lets you know if you're slowing for the signal or for the station.

Does it?
I bet that is a bit odd seeing it change every so often!

Yup! You get a loud click as well, I guess you woudn't hear the click in the front cab because you'd have the normal AWS noises but you know in the back cab when it's changed.

You do get the click in the active cab, it's the sound of the sunflower switching on and off.
