I missed this completely! Thank you very much for this, I'm going to settle down and go through this now. That 707 takeoff was ridiculous, they just chucked it around the taxiway, lined up and let rip. It even sounds like the engines were spooling up before they even lined up with the runway.

Have to admit.. completely the same! I missed any notifications in the alerts section. Thanks @Strathclyder , you've definitely nailed it re. my airliner preferences with that recommendation

Edit: damn, that taxi was more like a Top Gear lap. Full pelt and good handling on the corners..

One comment on the video perfectly describes this fast taxi: 'Those pilots appear to have their father’s car out on a Saturday night.' Apart from anything else, the way they spool up at 1:29 and nearly blow the camera's mic with that glorious JT8D scream, I can well believe it!

Another gem from the same user's collection is one of the Conroy Skymonster, an one-off outsize cargo conversion of a Canadair CL-44 (itself a derivative of the Bristol Britannia) in the same vein of the various Guppies and the Airbus Beluga family. This video was shot on 17th December 1998 and the aircraft was bound for Luton; this was apparently one of her last revenue-earning flights. While not a blazingly fast taxi & takeoff like that TMA 707, it's still a cracking video for it's rarity value (and for that Rolls-Royce Tyne melody!). Interesting size comparision between it and a Il-76 at the very start too as it leaves it's stand:

Amazing stuff. As much as I wish I could have experienced some older jets I wish even more that I could have experienced a Kai Tak approach and landing. Looked like a heart-in-mouth moment for even the most experienced of pilots.

Am right with you there. A true testament to the skills of the pilots who landed there via the Checkerboard Hill approach in virtually all weather conditions.

That said, the very small group of pilots who flew Concorde into Kai Tak were exceptionally skilled even by this metric given her unique flying characteristics when compared to other airliners, hence why G-BOAD's landing here is so smooth.

Thats superb, its a regret of mine i never got to fly into the old airport that way, the only time i flew into Kai Tak (literally days before it closed, the return flight was from the new airport) i flew in via the boring direction.

Another Patrick Vereecke video and another of the one-off Conroy Skymonster, this time shot from the end of the runway at Ostend in (presumably) early 1999, so there's plenty of noise to drink in from those 4 RR Tynes! Also of note here is the unsynchronised main gear retraction after takeoff. Top-shelf stuff imho.

This video is mindblowing: takeoff is from about 2:20, and I'm stunned that this was ever allowed there! It can't be more than 10m off the ground at that point. To show where this was, here's a Google Street View link.

In comparison, a modern airliner will be well above the ground at that point, as seen here with an Easyjet A320.

I'm seriously shocked that it even got off the ground with that level of performance. I knew the Kuznetsov NK-86 engines were underpowered, but I didn't realise that they were so drastically underpowered.

In a similar vein, an IL 76 transport taking off (just) in Australia on a very hot and still day, complete with Aussie ATC witty commentary. Uses every single inch of the runway;

Hah, that is excellent. "The vodka-burner is rolling" indeed.

It reminds me that some of the best aviation content on YT is ATC audio. Kennedy Steve is much missed.

Out of all the aviation vids I've stumbled across on YT, not that many have left me lost for words. This one has shot right to the top of that list though:

The Antonov An-225 landing at a very foggy Rzeszów Airport in Poland on 9th January 2022, less than 8 weeks before her tragic destruction. The fog parted by her massive wake almost looks like the sea parted by Moses in DreamWorks' The Prince of Egypt. One of the best videos of her I've ever seen.

Back in May 2012, we did a sightseeing helicopter flight over London... here is the video from that day, which I have just finished uploading. You'll be able to see several of the bigger railway stations in London in it as well...

One for the Cold War miltary aircraft fans here.

Not mine (ofc), but this one left me slack-jawed when I first watched it a few months back. It's of the Vulcan display at Farnborough in September 1958 showing off the then-new B2 variant. Barrel rolls, high speed low passes (over a Victor with it's parachute out!) and that howl I still badly miss now are all here. The tragic Vulcan crash at Syerston that same month (a week after this footage was shot by all accounts, involving the first prototype Vulcan VX770) casts a dark shadow over this footage.

Of all the aircraft I wished I could've seen - And heard. And felt in my chest! - in flight with my own two eyes rather than through a video like this, the English Electric Lightning would be near the top of such a list. Of all the period footage of them I've seen on YT, this is just about the best of them.
