It seems fair on a rail forum to assume not everyone knows the significance of the term "acmi" (aircraft, crew, maintenance, insurance). Air Belgium will be acting as a spot-hire sub-contractor for other airlines much like Hi Fly or Small Planet.

Quite spectacular. There were numerous protests while we were there so witnessing the traffic chaos was something else.

Norwegian appear to be binning their flights from Edinburgh, Shannon and Cork. Link pasting is being weird on my phone but its a Scotsman article. I think Edinburgh is left with a flight to Stewart (proxy for New York).

They are suspending the Shannon and Cork flights to/from USA for the winter. They will return in Summer 2019.

But continuing to operate some flights? With crews sourced from the other end?
The article I was reading didn't make that at all clear.

The airline Air Belgium has announced that it is to suspend flights to Hong Kong during the winter season. The airline operates its long-haul service to Hong Kong from Charleroi Airport in Hainaut Province. Speaking at a press conference on Friday afternoon, the airline’s CEO Niky Terzakis told journalists that the route is not being scrapped. Flights from Charleroi to Hong Kong will resume again from next March.
Despite the suspension of the Hong Kong route that started up in June of this year, Air Belgium still intends to start up new routes to China before the end of the year.
Mr Terzakis explained that the suspension of the Hong Kong route has come about due to a dispute with a number of Chinese tour operators that he claims have failed to keep their promises regarding capacity on flights and tariffs. Furthermore, no agreement had been reached with regard to the winter season and consequently it was decided to suspend the route temporary.
The last flight from Charleroi to Hong Kong (for the time being at least) will leave on 28 September. Any passengers that had booked flights during the winter season will be contacted and offered a refund or a flight with an alternative carrier.

Mixed messages from the airline, lack of passengers for whichever reason... I don't see them coming back.

This specifically says the Edinburgh base is closing, all TATL flights axed and the only remaining routes will be from/to Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen. Norwegian are blaming the failure of the Scottish Government to scrap APD.

And, of course, all of those are simple in/out round-trips done with crews based in each of those three cities.

The gist of it is Lufthansa used to have a Frankfurt - Pune (India, automotive centre among others) flight with a Privatair 737. This all went belly up with reports of Privatair in financial straits.

After the summer LHhave reinstated the flight... with a normal A319. The 737 previously was in a premium heavy configuration due to the clientele, and was kitted out for the long-haul route it operated on.

The bloggers are having a field day now that it's Eurobusiness or standard economy seat for the 11 hour flight and change. The fuel stop is in Baku, and it's just a tech stop, no traffic and no disembarking for aircraft cleaning.

That's going to be a gruelling one...

Edit: game. Worst flights? Our flights to Somalia are far worse. And there's no booze to help take the edge off of where you're going.

It’s actually operating via Sal in the Cape Verde islands these days (and will be until 2020) due to the poor condition of the runway at Ascension Island.

The whole thing seems terribly old fashioned. Bouncing between old colonies in an RAF jet, doubtless piloted by someone with a plum accent.

The website says AirTanker, but I think it's the Voyager A330 derivative. Which, I learned, can carry a full load of passengers and do air-to-air refuelling. That would be a great addition to the trip to Stanley.
