Avanti with blue light card code

Sorry if this isn't the right place for this!

So I have a blue light card and have used it for a discount with avanti west coast. I will be travelling with my card on me, of course. I travel out on a Friday and back the next day on the Sat. My tickets arrived today and have a code on them - it says "adult standard class with DI 004". Is this an internal code to tell them I booked with a blue light card? Just interested to know, it's my first time ever using their discount with my card!

That's exactly what it is - underneath it's implemented as a railcard with code `00L`, which has name `DI 004` (and the nice display name field is blank, hence falling back to the ugly one)

Di004 seems to tally with blue light.

However I have asked Avanti about all of these DI codes before such as the carers or teachers ones whereby the only evidence to show is the website that says you are a member.

Their call centre said (so maybe treat with a pinch of salt) to me they don't need the website for those ones.

They are 'Partner Offer' tickets, which undercut superfare whilst still being able to pick a train, quotas seem lower than most cheap advances mind you, so best to book early.

London to Glasgow for £29.50 is a steal. I wonder how the quotas work for this.

I am unsure but I think they now have SP tickets too.

I was under the expectation that it was available until a specific normal advance quota was hit.

The tickets are ONLY available from AWC site as far as I am aware so they could pull a fast one and only show it if the advance ticket price is below a certain level?

I am unsure though maybe someone with access to the feeds could come up with some better explanation.

BTW even better value if you rack up quite a few trips to build club avanti balance for 'free' SP 'return' and first 'return'.

I had to go on my blue light account and access AWC via the discount link on the website. The partner link showed me all the trains that were included in the offer. I added all to my cart and realised it still had the full price ones there too before I remembered my blue light card (this is the first time I've found it that useful so far!) The discount was quite significant - £25/£30ish. I was pretty impressed.

There are numerous other sites that give the same offer without the payment of the BLC.

To be honest the BLC is probably better for using in person at places that are not listed on their site but offer discount to emergency staff such as vape shops etc.

Otherwise most offers on there are on the other websites too.

Yes they do; the price - where available - is roughly the additional cost of the add-on, potentially give or take a few quid.

And yes, you do have to book on the Avanti website.

I always hand my blue light card with my ticket when it’s checked, never had any issue

Yep, it's worth showing in as a lot of places will accept it as if it was one of the dedicated NHS/Police schemes or accept it but BLC havent added them to their website (or have removed them at the end of the original agreement but the retailer has kept it going anyway).

You can use the app too, as it has a digital card. One less card to cart around.
