Avanti West Coast - Saturday 21st May

Hello all. Newbie so please be gentle!

Apologies if this is the wrong section, but could anyone shed some light on there are no tickets available on Saturday 21st May between Preston and Euston. I’ve checked for engineering works but can’t see anything relevant. The journeys are on the national rail website but it just says no fares available.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's possible that Wigan Athletic might be in the EFL League One play-off final at Wembley that day. Right now they're to of the table, two points clear with one match to play. Perhaps Avanti are hedging their bets? Might be worth seeing if there's any change after tomorrow's games? (Sorry, this is highly speculative - I'm hoping that someone with more detailed/insider knowledge might be able to provide an authoritative answer!)

Won't be anything to do with that.

I think Avanti are behind in informed traveller, is my understanding. Means the timetable is being finalised much later.

It’s as a Sheffield Wednesday fan who is on due to be on holiday in Cumbria for the play off final I’m making enquiries so you weren’t far off the mark!
