I recall them saying in a video that there was a desire to do them in a week instead of two, but they were scheduled to take two weeks.

How is the progress of vestibules and toilets which is being done separately going compared to the main refurbishment production line in Manchester?

805 001 & 805 003 went north today. 003 has no interior fittings such as tables and seats. It looks like 001 still needs sockets fitting.IMG_0853.jpeg

Has 390136 come back out - last record I have is of it going in Widnes in March so presumably it has come out since then?

When a first carriage is converted to standard , does it become another unreserved coach as presumably the reservation displays can't be moved?

It's a shame there's only one unreserved coach on 9 car sets. Yet three on 11 car sets. Maybe renaming coach F to 'G' or 'U' to have two unreserved coaches on 9's would be good.

Is there much demand for unreserved carriages?

Coach K is tiny though, maybe half J somehow, into first class and standard premium. And convert H to standard reservable.

But then there would have to be 4 unreserved coaches on an 11 car, since the reason coaches U and G are unreserved is that they are not carried by 9 cars, so no one with a reserved seat has to stand if a 9 car turns up.

I of course am only interested in the opposite, sitting in coach G without a reservation on a service of my own choosing, but I have been stood in the vestibule of a 9 car and been asked by passengers where to find coach U, which they insisted they would find eventually even when I told them that wasn’t the case on a 9 car.

It is currently unreserved, but this is because Avanti cannot guarantee whether the train will be refurbished or not, so it's easier just to have it as unreserved than have a carriage of the wrong class allocated to a seat reservation. If I remember correctly, the seat reservation displays were moved in coach G, so there's no reason that it won't revert back to being a reserved coach after the refurbishment is complete, units of specific lengths tend to be diagrammed on certain services, and I don't think coach G was unreserved before the refurbishment.

Similar ideology to the 807s, which have an end carriage of first class and half of the next carriage with first class, leaving similar standard capacity to a 9 car 390.

They're getting through the refurbs quite well now. I must admit that having travelled on the refurbs a bit more now, I'm definitely happier seeing a refurbished unit pulling in now. Alstom and Avanti have done a great job on them if you ask me!

Are edge hill keeping up as well with the vestibule and toilet refurbishments? Is anything significant actually being done to the toilets other than a paint job or similar?
