Last one in! Means it’s no longer possible to catch an unrefurbished 11-car! I wonder how quickly station displays/PIS systems will be updated (most of which still display/announce coach G as unreserved first class).

I’m guessing start of September for the /0’s?

It could potentially be in about two weeks, so just before the start of September potentially.

The announcements at Wigan were changed a couple of weeks ago, so they already announce "the unreserved standard class carriages are C,U & G"

Sometimes staff do announcements and at Wigan on the 31st of July they missed out (or didn't know) that G was standard class.

Indeed, I’ve found even on very busy trains, coach G is considerably quieter than the others!

Whether this is due to a lack of knowledge regarding the conversion or the PIS wrongfully announcing it as 1st class I don’t know. Regardless, it’s always my go-to coach when I don’t hold a reservation!

What annoys me about announcements is when the Auto one announces the service correctly. But then immediately afterwards or even interrupting it a manual announcer says the same exact info! Let the auto one do its job!

Now that coach G is Standard Class on all 9-car and 11-car trains, Avanti also have the option to introduce reservations in this coach on all services.
When the first Class 390s entered service as 8-car trains in 2003 there were four Standard Class coaches. There are now eight Standard Class coaches on the 11-car trains. The business model has certainly changed over the last 20 years.

Having seen this image (XC 220 at Southampton Ctrl) of CrossCountry’s 220027 on Instagram, I noticed the skirting/undercarriage to the left of the photo, at the front of the train around the coupler, and it looks very much like Avanti’s colour scheme.

Have Avanti parts been given to CrossCountry? I imagine it could be from 221142?

Both the XC and Avanti voyagers are maintained at Barton near Burton by Alstom. I would presume that part came from the depot stores.

With 390135 at Widnes, all 11 cars on the network are now refurbished. This is the first major milestone in the project and do we know when the first 9 car shall head to Widnes with 390135 due out soon?

Each set takes 2 weeks to refurbish so next weekend, probably Friday night the first 9 car should arrive in Widnes.
