Avanti Voyagers - have they been adjusted in performance?

Used a Voyager on the North Wales Coast on Friday, and I noticed that the acceleration out of Chester was impressive and EMU like, just like I remember them being at the very start. Also when starting out the lighting flickered and dimmed, again like it was at the start.

Has performance been adjusted, or is this potentially a faulty unit or overenthusiastic driver?

Do you know the unit number? Voyagers were 'detuned' from appx 750 to 700hp per engine - but it I guess it is entirely feasible that a different tune has been applied for testing purposes?
