I passed mine OPC tests in May and had DMI in September.

Yes, I am waiting for course date as well. I hoped to be on August list, but it looks like it could be longer wait.
You heard that through the grapevine about August dates or was you just going off the email. I'm waiting on a course date euston depot

I thought all dates up until July are taken how do you know the August dates have been taken?
I don't nothing about August course. I just assumed we will know more than 3 months in advance about date. Many of people in pool probably have 3 months notice to leave currect employment.

Euston are currently focussed on filling with qualified drivers. Currently in the process in interviewing and assessing loads of them over the coming months

My logic with 3 months notice prior to a course would be them notifying us before July about courses after July.
Nobody knows exactly what though.

Just jumping in quickly. It seems avanti don’t have any need to prioritise trainees at the moment. There’s courses for qualified drivers at all depots every couple months or so for the next year at least it seems. I know people who applied last month and already been given a course
i just had the same email as limerickboyo, have you heard anything yet.
also anyone have any advice for a dmi.

How are people getting on who have recently started training?
Functional skills maths is an ultimate bore, especially when you wanna be doing 100mph on the sim. No idea why maths is even relevant to the role, truth be told no one else training with me knows either.
Apart from the rant, it’s going all good.

Haha. Apparently it’s to do with the trainee role being an apprenticeship. Apprenticeships mandatorily need maths and English qualifications mate.
How long is the functional skills course? I’m nearly at the end of mine and I haven’t been placed on a course yet.
It isnt relevant to the role.
You need it for the apprenticeship, though, so it’s directly relevant to your employer’s ability to get a load of cash back from the government for training you!

I passed my DMI in September. Hoping to hear back before the end of the year
I said to my instructor, would I need to do maths when doing turns? He nearly spilled his tea laughing.

They sort it out for you, nothing you need to do yourself.

It's not too long tbh but you can mostly ace it if you put the extra study hours in at home.

Euston are totally focussed on qualified drivers at the moment. Nothing for trainees planned as they need to focus on filling the depot up due to the smoke due to retire, transfer or just move on
As long as things are moving that's good. I've already got in my mind next year anyway. Anything before that is a bonus!
