Is the Crewe depot so they can phase out Preston, or just give them alternative driver depot options?

Both depots are staying. Preston will remain signing the whole mainline from Glasgow to London and will lose signing towards Chester. Crewe won’t go anywhere north of Preston but will sign Liverpool, Manchester and Holyhead

That’s extremely unlikely as most Glasgow services don’t even call at Crewe except the via Birmingham ones and that will take work away from southern depots something which would need to be agreed by Aslef

Holyhead made sense but crews seems it is especially when it’s got Preston, Wolves,Manchester and Liverpool all within close proximity. The only positive it frees up Liverpool drivers who currently sign Holyhead to be freed up for the 2tph to Euston services

When Crewe depot happens Aslef will need to agree with other depots to see if Crewe can cross cover for other depots

I'm starting to accept that it could be at least another year away from getting on a course - going by the Trainee Train Drivers (Talent Bank) - Avanti - Multiple Locations (02/10/22) thread.

Been hanging on at my current job I hate but time to get back on the jobsites I think. Anyone else waiting in the Talent Pool thinking the same time period?

I’ve told people already. I was informed they are waiting for dates after March. That was from the recruitment team so yes, the courses for Jan - March won’t be available.

How does that work with Blackpool where 805 / 807 will go but Preston Drivers will not be signing them?

Congratulations! There’s not much to say which hasn’t been said already, if I was you, use this website’s search function and look up each of the tests. That’s what I did and it prepared me well enough to pass stage 2.

Don’t go in blind, do your research throughly and good luck!

Hi all. Liverpool applicant. Passed visual and M7 back in March. Just had holding emails since. Last one in october. Awaiting invite to assessment day. Cant beleive its nearly been a year since the application went in!

We're in the same boat, I suspect there are a few of us actually. Same as you, applied in February and did Stage 1 and Stage 2 assessments in March/April, and was then put on hold. I've had two or three holding emails, the last one in October and have been waiting ever since. From the sounds of it, it may pick up in the next few weeks as the Crewe and Preston moves finish. Fingers crossed!

I've done these tests so far:

• Avanti-PQ
• Avanti-SJT
• Avanti-TB-DT
• Avanti-TB-NTS
• Visual Search Exercise
• M7 Situational Judgement Test

I believe these are the next tests for me: The Trainability for Rules and Procedures Test Part 1 and 2, The Group Bourdon Concentration Test; & The Test of Everyday Attention for Occupational Assessment.

Yeah ive done the same as you. Got part 1 and 2 group bourdon and attention to do just waiting still!
