Having applied for WMT previously and currently in progress with Chiltern, I found Avanti’s SJT’s and other online tests far more grittier, genuinely struggled to select some answers there as they’re all Important answers and tasks, fingers crossed eh

Doubt it at this very early stage. They’re just interested in test scores at this point. Not even sure they’ll be able to see gender on the application.

I’m pretty certain that when filling out the application form it said that the section with age, nationality, gender etc would be removed from the application before it goes to recruitment. Apparently it’s to monitor inclusion and diversity in the workplace and doesn’t have an impact on the application process as the recruiters don’t have access to it.

I just checked my application and it says the following
To assist us in monitoring our recruitment practices and to ensure equality of opportunity, we would appreciate it if you would complete the following sections. The answers that you provide will be treated in the strictest confidence and will only be used for statistical monitoring. The information in this section will be detached from the application form before the assessment process begins.
So yeah, gender won't be visible to the recruiters.

Same here. I’ve applied for Manchester. Had my OPC assessment for yesterday. When do we intend to find out if where successful or not.

Don't expect this process to be quick, even at best the railway is slow in general with this kind of thing!
How did they inform you? On an email or by logging back on to opc site?

I was reading a thread from last year regarding the Avanti process, applicants generally heard back about the tests 3-5 days after deadline. I’m unsure if they email to say you wasn’t successful though?
Don’t think Avanti have anything to do with it from this point until the DMI. Everything will be done by OPC.
When I did mine last year I had the result via email the day after deadline.

Are those who are successful receive their results sooner and the ones that don't later? Or is this a myth?
Having just got a date for my DMI for Freightliner I can confirm that everything up to the end of all assessments is managed and handled by OPC. Avanti only get your “file” once you have passed all assessments and the CBI interview. All results and communication are via email from OPC and they are really good at keeping people updated. Even when they are working through a lot of testing they email just to say it’s taking longer than planned and they will be in touch. However, having just been through the OPC process having applied for Freightliner last November I think it was, I understand the frustration waiting causes. I’ve been waiting two weeks now for DMI email and it was driving me mad but arrived in my inbox today at 1531. Good luck to everyone.

It’s a myth. I had two friends who applied for Freightliner at the same time as me, one passed the initial tests and the other failed. Both done roughly at the same time. Emails all sent out roughly the same time.

That is a relief! I haven't received anything yet, applied for the Euston position.
Regarding timelines and talent banks, it's a lottery (or an unpredictable order). Somebody who applied at the start of 2022 only recently received their DMI invite. Conversely, there are a couple of people from the October 2022 recruitment drive who have been allocated course dates already. There are also a not insignificant number of people (myself included) who have passed all OPC assessments and are waiting on a date for their DMI.
