That’s interesting because in my course he did mention avanti had the highest haha!

I second this. I asked the lady who did my stage 2 assessments and she said Avanti was the highest. I also asked her if my passes would be accepted by other TOC’s and she said yes. So far 2 other TOC’s have put me straight through to DMI’s so she was telling the truth, as far as I can tell.

How’s everyone felling about there DMI

Can’t wait to finally smash it tbh, it’s been a long road to get to DMI with Avanti, so any nerves I had about it are long gone, if that makes any sense? I’ve scoured this forum for all the info and prep that I could need. Fingers crossed the train gods are on my side come the day haha.

I was told by the OPC that it was overground and that was by the big boss too lol. I was told that actually while we were training as the OPC came in and spent the day with us to teach us learning techniques. My passes were also high enough for every toc and my class were told we were in the top 2%.
I had a dmi with Thameslink and obviously with overground and offered dmi with two others. This was 2017/2018 though so maybe it's changed.

Hi all, i have my DMI on 6th of sept in Euston I’ve seem Euston applicants saying they have theirs in Crewe which is strange?
Ive been reading the nts report and Avanti website is their any other sources of information available?

That’s very lucky, you’ve been saved a fare on trip to crew and back. Wish I was having my DMI in Euston. Would make sense that.

I’m assuming they’re doing them where the available slots are? As my first email said Crewe then got a second with location amended to Euston. I wasn’t going to complain

Hi everyone. I just got an email invite to go to the first face to face stage in Glasgow on Tuesday 19th September (Edinburgh Applicant).

Unfortunately due the nature of my current job, I really need more notice as I already have a full day of clients book in that day.

Can’t think how to make it other than make some lies up which I don’t really want to do! Might ask if there are other assessment dates available.

Is anyone else in the same boat?

Research some Train Operating Companies that operate within and in and out of London. Go on their websites and look at current vacancies on their careers portals. Vacancies for Trainee Driver courses come and go very very quickly, so check often.
Tons of threads on this website about the process and what you need to do.

Hi, I’m an Edinburgh applicant going on the 19th.

It’s a wee bit annoying it’s all the way through in Glasgow but will obviously be worth it if it’s successful in the end.

Really not sure what to expect it’s terms of the difficulty of the tests. Not easy to judge from the email.

It's not hard, practice as much as you can. Especially group bourdon, do memory exercises and general mental wellbeing. You will do fine.

I had my DMI today it was good, can’t complain, DM’s were great I went in super nervous and came out feeling like I’ve known them for ages lol

Not sure tbh theres alway’s that feeling of “I could have said more” but what I can say is I gave it my best shot and I was able to be myself and that’s what matters

For the people that have taken their DMI… how did you find it?

Had mine this week, was dreading it but the Interviewers were amazing. If I didn't quite make it I know what to expect next time.
