Avanti services 06/11/ 22

A question: why are so few avanti services calling at mkc today? This seems especially true for afternoon/evening workings

Having endured an evil, rammed, xc toilet fumer, a slow, roasting and full replacement bus, a missed connection, an lm train so full i couldnt get on and an hour wasted at dreary rugby my tolerence is quite thin for nonsense so hopefully someone here can explain why avanti arent stopping and at least reduce my unhappiness!

There aren't many Avanti services at all today, let alone calling at Milton Keynes, due to separate industrial action on top of the 5, 7 and 9 November RMT strikes affecting other operators.

We are pleased that the RMT has called off its strike action for 5, 6, 7 and 9 November but, due to the short-notice, it’s not possible to make further major changes to our timetable. The TSSA union has also announced strike action on 5 and 9 November.

On 6 November, we plan to run one train per hour from London Euston to each of Manchester, Glasgow and Liverpool. These trains will operate during limited hours, with the first train of the day departing Euston at 08:10 and the last train of the day from Euston departing 16:40. Some services to Liverpool and Manchester will go via the West Midlands (including calls at Coventry, Birmingham International, Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton) in view of the upgrade work being carried out between Rugby and Stafford. This will vary each hour.

The significantly reduced timetable on 6 November will mean North Wales, Shrewsbury, Chester, Blackpool and Edinburgh will have no Avanti West Coast services, and trains will not be calling at Stoke-on-Trent or Macclesfield. The upgrade work between Rugby and Stafford will mean journeys to some destinations will take longer and may require a change.
