Mrs W travels occasionally on the 0445 Holyhead to London Euston. This is a 5-car set, coupled at Crewe with another from Blackpool North.

She books on the Avanti website and is usually assigned a seat in coach P, so I'd assumed coaches A-J is the set from Blackpool and K-L from Holyhead.
However, RTT says the Holyhead portion is A-J, but when she tries to change her seat through the selector, it only offers her the choice of K-L.

RTT is correct. Her train is labelled A-J.

So she, presumably along with everyone else from Holyhead and along the coast, boards with a reservation for a non-existent seat. However, she can usually manage to choose an unreserved seat.

However, this morning she wondered if the guard were thinking it were yesterday [April 1st], for he announced all those with reservations for K-L should leave at Crewe and join the Blackpool portion when it had coupled-up. Now if a similar announcement had been made from Blackpool, you can imagine the fun on platform 11 with passengers and luggage shuffling from one portion to the other!

Its a through service, providing you don't have a seat reservation!

I've emailed Avanti previously about this, but apparently wasted my time. Come on! Sort this out! I assume it just needs a tweek of your booking computer!

How strange!

I've just looked at this train for 22nd April as an example Holyhead to London on Journey Planner and it is showing coaches K L M N P

Meanwhile Blackpool North to Crewe is showing J D C B A.

Ironically the platform CIS at Preston still thinks it's a 5-car Super Voyager- it's often advising pax that First Class is in coach E.. (It did the same whilst the Everos were going over the Settle and Carlisle in January)

Carlisle station also did the same with the Everos saying that first was in E
