I'm sure this is the same one as yesterday, they just haven't deleted it yet. Perhaps haven't had enough applications.

It was removed last night from Avanti website so it's a good call you posted it today, as it was reinstated.

It says maths A-C. I don't have this. Disappointing
Hm, It also says if you don't have it, they will support you to get it.

It's also an apprenticeship which is the whole point, that if you don't have those GCSEs that you will have to do it as part of your course. That's why the government is funding the course; to make sure that you get your A*-C GCSE. Otherwise there's no point in it being an apprenticeship.

It might be worth asking them for clarity. The job advert for trainees says you need Maths and English A-C but then it says you must be able to complete functional skills in Maths and English at level 2... If you have A-C in Maths or English then you are exempted from needing to complete functional skills parts of the apprenticeship. If you don't have the GCSEs then you head off to college for a few weeks to get level 2 in Maths, English and ICT.

Personally, I would still apply.

Thanks all. I have English, just not the maths. I've applied, nothing to lose I guess . I live in West mids so may get it on my own back so if they recruit for Wolverhampton depot I'll be all set to go in 2023

Do any of you have a copy of know the shift pattern for avanti drivers? Would be nice to see. I'm a firefighter so used to shift work but would be cool to have a look

Anyone know if Avanti make you sit CBI instead of MMI and would declare the MMI void if you fail that CBI? little bit confused.

Thanks.

You have to do the CBI even if you have passed the MMI. But if you fail/pass the CBI, it overrides your old MMI result so when you go to apply to another TOC having failed the CBI, you the have to redo the MMI with only one life left as a whole

It does seem bonkers this CBI MMI rule. Why if it’s a different interview is it not treated as it’s own separate test? So if you fail it you’ve failed it? It shouldn’t affect your MMI pass mark? I’m asking myself this btw I don’t expect anyone to answer

But what if you have an MMI pass then go on to pass the CBI??
as i say it overrides the MMI result you had. So if you dont progress with Avanti and you go on to apply to another TOC, wether they will accept your CBI instead of your MMI I havent had 100% confirmation on but it looks like they would only accept MMIs if thats the test they do

I believe its roughly the same thing but a lot harder with higher score requirments than even an enhanced pass on an MMI

I’ve sat and passed both the MMI and CBI - didn’t really notice any difference between the two; they were basically the same in terms of format, qtns etc with maybe a few subtle differences. This was back in 2019 so things might have changed now.

All very strange having failed once already but now having passed everything to an enhanced standard is it worth me waiting for another TOC that does accept the MMI as if I fail the CBI thats it both lives lost.

It’s down to you really. It’s a massive gamble as there’s no guarantee of a job even if you pass the CBI and then you’re left with something no other TOCS use. However sometimes in life you have to take a risk and these jobs don’t come about often, and if you hold to your current results again there’s no guarantee. I don’t think anyone can advise it be totally your personal choice.

No it's not. Log in and it will allow you to practise as many times as you like before completing the tests.

Yeah its a tricky one guess if I get to the CBI stage I have to make the hard choice.
Indeed, I got to this strange previously and decided against it as I had already passed testing including MMI with another TOC. Didn't fancy having to redo the MMI if I didnt get a job offer.

Yeah I think I will not bother doing it, especially why an application is still live.
