They seem to recruit for Liverpool a lot more frequently than their other depots.

Yes I had noticed that. Seems they even exhausted unhappy tpe drivers. Anything to do with Crewe expansion and Preston closing?Seems fishy
No idea, I've no ties or contacts to the depot. But the frequency of recruitment suggests a retention issue or simply they've got a higher % of older drivers cycling through retirement than other places.

Could be do to with Crewe. Hadn't heard Preston was closing though...?

I guess the loss of Holyhead work coupled with very early starts and very late finishes to and from the depot may play a part?

As I understand it, Liverpool is a small depot with a lot of senior staff, so naturally with many drivers on the network reaching retirement age over the years it's going to have a fair bit of vacancies that need to be filled, which seems to line up with your theory of a higher percentage of older drivers cycling through retirement. You would think though that given it was one of three depots to be in both the October 2022 and February 2023 recruitment campaigns that they would have had a few trainees lined up ready to start by now, but evidently not.

They have plenty in their talent pool awaiting courses and also qualifieds who are working their notices with other TOCs.

Heard on the grapevine there are only around 4 vacancies, earmarked external. The link you start in is pendo only work and has all the mega early and mega late work.
Hopefully it's just all gossip.....

I’d imagine they have plenty of interest from Northern and TPE drivers out of Liverpool. Northern have an opening for Liverpool so perhaps they have lost a few to Avanti??
