Anybody any idea why Avanti are cancelling so many of the Glasgow to London services today. It is nuts. Absolutely disastrous weekend for Avanti and they don’t seem to give a toss about keeping passengers informed (no warning on their website) or trying to pull their finger out to run a proper service.

Anything to do with planned engineering work between Crewe and Stafford? Or is it again 'shortage of train crew' on a Sunday?

I don’t think so because these are all services that were scheduled to run.

So they have terminated an 11 car London direct train at Preston and shoved everybody on to a 9 car via Birmingham service.

Why on earth would you do that. Surely you terminate the Birmingham service and run the London service, but call additionally at Stafford.

Needless to say we are leaving people behind at Preston.

Not a single member of Avanti staff on the pitch platform at Preston. Even the dispatcher seems to have hidden somewhere.

It is an absolute shambles for the 3rd day running.

No apologies or even announcements other than say ‘this train will terminate at Preston today’.

It really is unbelievably poor.

At last an announcement. The guard saying they may cancel the train at Crewe due to overcrowding. The mind boggles.

1312 Southbound departure from Oxenholme Lake District was, I think, actually a TPE service to Manchester Airport, which did run. However, looks as if the 1426 Avanti from Oxenholme Lake District for London Euston was terminated at Preston, and the 1525 and 1627 Avanti departures from Oxenholme Lake District for London Euston were both completely cancelled. Rather poor!

To say the least. I now know what those on here mean who made been saying Avanti can’t run services beyond Preston to Scotland and vice versa. It seems to be a complete mess and they don’t seem capable of acknowledging how not good enough that is.
