Mulling options for the November diversions via Middlewich, and one plan involves staying on from Crewe through to Bangor using a Coast and Peaks Rover. For 2h25 mins a first class upgrade might make sense, but how would Avanti calculate this on board? The difference between First and Standard anytime tickets? A unpublished upgrade rate card?

For a Rover, the upgrade should be calculated as the difference between the relevant Single fares for the journey, which would be £19.10 as only Anytime Singles are available. The Standard Premium upgrade is a fixed £12.50 (only available on-board.)

SeatFrog would also be an option, but that appears to be a minimum of £47 for First Class and £26 for Standard Premium, plus the £3 platform fee in both cases.
