For the past few weeks now Avanti have been running their services ECS to wherever it’s booked to go if there is no Train Manager.
Last week one set did ECS EUS-BHM-EUS then the next working was also cancelled and it went EUS-MAN-EUS. Why all this empty running?
Even if there is no crew to take it to Wembley, I would have thought that there is enough space at Euston to keep a couple of sets for a few hours?
Have also noticed that as from the Monday the ECS workings are not now appearing on RTT. Is this so the public don't see this?

It could be that the Train Manager does both the out and back working but the driver changes at Birmingham or Manchester for the back working of the set.

As most times a train will be decided to run ECS will be made on the day rather than planned RTT probably doesn't have time to catch up. Probably nothing more sinister than that and certainly not a conspiracy to hide things. Or they know in time to knock trains out the system hence don't appear.

There really is limited space to hold trains for hours without risk of blocking stations.

What proportion of the public know RTT exists, and what proportion of that proportion know how to find ECS trains and know what they are? It'll just be short notice alterations being made, rather than some big conspiracy.

It’s possible that it ran on the basis that there was expected to be a TM available at the other end, but one didn’t materialise (for a variety of reasons).

Why would they need to?
Not particularly but then do we need to see anything ECS related?

Most people are simply not bothered about where trains are heading unless they are running in service to a destination they actually want to travel to
