Mostly Glasgow-ish. Mostly.
I've just received a (legitimate) automated Delay Repay mail from Avanti related to my journey home from Euston on Tuesday, suggesting I'm due £38 which was half of the advance fare and that I should confirm the delay.

All well and good except the service was only three minutes late getting into Glasgow Central and I made my local connection with plenty of time - on the same ticket and also not delayed. Naturally I've cancelled the claim via the delay repay site but I'm curious if this is often seen by others?

Did the three minute delay foul the minimum connection time? This seems to be the criteria Avanti use in determining if a claim is due or not - I have been overpaid a number of times because of this with no mechanism to prevent it.

Interesting.. maybe. I made my booked connection with twelve minutes to spare so that could have triggered something in Avanti's back-end in conjunction with a three minute delay. Either way I was able to cancel the automated claim on the page via the emailed link, didn't feel I should claim anything.

What was your timetabled arrival and what was the timetabled departure off Glasgow Central? The interchange time there is 15 minutes.

None it would appear, as @Bletchleyite seems to have kept his money......

Yep. I did contact customer services and attempt to return it on the first occasion, but no mechanism exists to do so. If I recall rightly I donated the excess to charity at least on some of the occasions.

Goodness only knows why their software doesn't have the fairly simple logic in it to pay the lower of what they think and what the customer put in for, because the delay level I selected was correct every time...

It's a bit different, though, if I had been asked if it was correct and to confirm - confirming something that wasn't accurate and you know it wasn't is definitely fraudulent. So if the original poster rejected it then they did the right thing.

You've probably nailed it right there. From the booking,

- Arrive into Glasgow Central (19:18)
- Outbound from Glasgow Central (19:33)

The delay brought that down to a 12 minute connection which is still plenty of time at GC

I know this is a phrase normally used passive-aggressively - but fixed that for you, to spell out why DR was offered.
