My train was delayed and the next service was exactly one hour later so I claimed 60 minutes to 120 minutes. Are Avanti so nit picking that they count the seconds !
Could it be that the train arrived early by one minute !
Is delay repay calculated from expected time of arrival ? Which may be different from departure time ?
Thank you.

Delay Repay is calculated to the minute based on the difference between your actual arrival time and your scheduled arrival time (in the public timetable). If you tell us your train details - which trains and on what date - we can check this for you and tell you how to do the same.

Thank you. It was Watford to Burton-on-Trent , saturday 24th August.
I was using split tickets with the itinerary on the tickets.
I bought Burton-on-Trent to Rugby costing £13.30 rtn. Then Rugby to Leighton Buzzard costing £14.05 rtn. Then Leighton Buzzard to Watford Junction - 2 singles costing £10.90 in total. All with a railcard and all fully flexible tickets.

All ok on the way out. The return was a delayed.
I caught 17.38 from Watford to Milton Keynes Central - ok.
Then my Avanti 18.18 from Milton Keynes Central was delayed, so I caught the next West Midlands Service to Tamworth arriving too late for me to get the 19.08 Tamworth to Burton-on-Trent.
So I waited for the 20.08 Tamworth to Burton-on-Trent which was on time.
I arrived circa 20.19 at Burton-on-Trent not the 19.19 I was expecting if the Avanti train was on time.

So are Avanti saying I arrived 20.18 at Burton-on-Trent , so its 30 to 59 minutes not 60 minutes to 120 minutes !

In total I received £8.22
How did they work this out ! As I paid £38.25 in total for the return journey

Thanks.

Yes, you arrived at 20:18, which is 59 minutes late. (EDIT Compared with the scheduled arrival time of 19:19.)

You should have received 25% of the cost of your return tickets, I don't know how they calculated this, I'd have said £9.56.

(EDIT If you use 25% of the two return tickets at £13.30 and £14.05, then 25% of one of the single tickets at £5.45 then you get £8.20, they don't owe anything for the single ticket you used on your outbound journey Leighton Buzzard to Watford, but it should be 50% of the cost of the single ticket you used for your return journey.......)

I am challenging a similar example where the systems show 59 minutes but the train was still moving along the platform for another minute or so. sadly I didn't take a video to back this up.

There was a recent thread (https://www.railforums.co.uk/thread...-of-luck-for-delay-repay.271806/#post-6883529) discussing this in more depth, essentially the railway operators have to use something and choose to implement strict cut-off times between bands for payment, and they use industry systems which reflect the time at which a track circuit berth or similar is occupied to denote the arrival time, which may reflect the time at which the train is still slowing down and hasn't yet opened its doors.

Thank you. So the system says 20.18, hence it’s 59 minutes ! And I don’t have any evidence of precisely the time the train doors opened!

So I went back to Avanti and said I thought it should be £9.56
A few days later they said they had sent it to somewhere else for review. Then a while later they send me an email saying in fact it’s 61 minutes late and rather than £8.22 , it should be £16.41 , so they are sending me an additional £8.19
So now I am totally confused , but am
calling it a day and sticking at £16.41 !!
Thank you all.
