The only options offered in what appeared to be a standard text was that our Advance tickets would be accepted on the previous train (which was not possible for us without negating the purpose of the trip) or the next one (which would arrive at Euston in the wee small hours with no way of getting home).I'm somewhat surprised that they didn't tell you to change at Carlisle on to the Edinburgh-Euston via Birmingham.
But, then again, maybe it's not so surprising after all.
The simple and pragmatic solution was to accept the refund and go to Kings Cross, even though that cost more. Which is what we had originally intended to do - we were only going via Glasgow because at the time we booked, LNER had called a strike for the day we were to travel. Given the weather forecast, a direct train from Leuchars was the safer option than travelling from Dundee and changing stations in Glasgow. Pasrticularly since tgere was a possibility the Tay Road Bridge might have been closed if the wind got any stronger.
