Avanti 807 diagrams

Hi all,

My train mad son is planning an outing from his Granny’s to ride as many trains as possible. His tentative itinerary (for Monday 13th April) is as follows:
Meols Cop - Southport (class 769 hopefully)
Southport - Liverpool (class 777)
Liverpool - Runcorn (class 807 Evero)
Runcorn - Liverpool (class 730)

Then back to Southport or Meols Cop, possibly with a diversion to Headbolt lane to go on the battery 777s.

So does anyone know the diagrams for the 807s? That’s the main centrepin of the expedition. And are the class 769s working and running to Southport currently?

Are there any rover tickets in the region? I know he can get a Merseyrail all day ticket, but I think the other legs will have to be cheap day returns. Luckily he’s still a child, so it’s 50% cheaper!

Any other ideas are also appreciated. He won’t want to be out from 6am to 10pm, but alternative reasonable itineraries are welcome.

The class 807 usually operate the slower Liverpool Lime Street to London Euston services each hour which usually depart Liverpool at 43 minutes past each hour, as a general rule any Avanti service booked to pick up/drop off passengers at Liverpool South Parkway will be booked for a class 807 although on the day set swaps can take place if disruption or a class 807 is unavailable.

There are regional Rover tickets (Lancs and Cheshire Day Rovers) but neither covers all the trips your son wants to make and both are quite pricy.
The all zone Merseytravel Saveaway (£3.25) is the probs best ticket (note the very similar Merseyrail Daysaver £3.20 which is MerseyRail trains only, so doesnt cover e.g. NT or LNW from Lime St to South Parkway, for example) the rest on Singles or CDRs. Depending how far he wants to travel, might be worth extendin to Acton Bridge for watching freight, or Crewe?

The Merseytravel saveaway will cover travel from Meols Cop to Southport as it is within the area, so definitely worth buying this over the Merseyrail daysaver.

Then you would just need a return from Liverpool Lime Street <-> Runcorn.

As I understand it, class 730s are not currently routinely used on Liverpool<->Birmingham, it would be a class 350. If preferable, a class 197 originating from Chester could be used on the journey back.

As the saveaway is valid on local buses, along with the borderlands line as far as Heswall, why not take the Wirral line to Bidston, then an ex underground class 230 to Upton (the first stop) - from there you could return to Liverpool via the very frequent 437 bus from just across the road.

If you're looking for more variety, a saveaway is also valid on TPE as far as Newton-le-Willows/Lea Green (Newcastle/Hull services). These will be fast runs on class 802s, which I would recommend, you could then take a northern stopping service back to Lime Street.
