Automatic railcard renewal

On the disputes and procesicutons thread, many people say they did t realise there railcard was expiring.
I ha a disabled adult card (via railcard. Co.uk), and got a automatic email asking me to renew.
So how come others allegedly don't get a renewal notice?

I don't know about these days, but certainly at one point in time they seemed to keep turning it on and off, potentially around COVID

A lot of this will be down to things like emails being changed over time (and not updating their account), spam/junk filters and/or opting out of receiving communications and the like (not ticking or unticking a box somewhere along the way).

Some are because their entitlement has lapsed, and they're simply not entitled to the Railcard anymore.
