Yesterday I was at Newport station and heard, for the first time I remember, automated announcements for the replacement buses to Bristol Parkway. They were in the same English and Welsh voices as the train announcements and were obviously linked to the timetable as they referred to specific departure times.

Is this unusual or have I just not been in the right place at the right time before?

Not unusual at all - I've heard automated announcements about RRBs at many stations.

Thanks chaps.

I do generally avoid RRBs so maybe that's why I haven't come across the announcements before.

Stoke has an automated announcement stating something like that the bus to Stone will leave from the stop to the left of the station entrance on the opposite side of the road. It's amazing some of the things she's needed to record!
