No but more use of Spring tensioners would be a good idea but it would cost£££

I think most or all recent installations have spring tensioners. Presumably Elecman is referring to the cost of retrofitting them to replace the weights on older systems.

AFAIK, both the older weight-and-pulley and modern spring tensioners are designed to maintain constant tension in the OHLE automatically (provided they are maintained properly and have sufficient range to deal with the maximum expansion and contraction of the wires over temperature).

The weight-and-pulley tensioners just use gravity to provide the constant tension force.

OLE *is* tensioned automatically. That’s why it is known as Auto-tensioned! (As opposed to Fixed tension).

and it works well, within the temperature range it is designed for.

Sounds like something to go wrong for the sake of a few instances every so often of the existing system not being able to cope.
