The section I cannot seem to find is Emmersdorf to St Nikola an der Donau

A bit of research on maps and by googling has revealed:

Sarmingstein - Emmersdorf closed October 2009
Emmersdorf - Krems closed closed October 2010

do a google image search for each section of line as above for captioned pictures

thanks for that...bus from Glein to Amstetten it is then

Emmersdorf to Krems does actually have a tourist service on weekends and bank holidays run by Növog ......BUT, there was a rock fall near Dürnstein-Oberloiben a couple of weeks ago which has disrupted services ( see here ).

As this line has a history of such incidents and has been closed for lengthy periods before I would not like to bet on it ever re-opening

Ah okay, not going until next easter so hopefully may have reopened.
