11 Years ago Melbourne's trains and trams were very different. Here is a small look back. Most photos are a Westall.

Siemens train 710M-2505T-709M-M-T-M departs Westall Maintenance Depot with the what was regular 1455 shunt to the City. Westall has changed quite a bit. There's now a track to the left of the photo.

Nowadays this is a normal sight but 2007 this was a relatively new sight. At the start of privatization the Comeng fleet was split between Connex and M>Train(National Express) They were refurbished by thier respective operators and were rendered incomparable with each other. National express left thier half of the network and it was given to Connex. In 2006 Connex started called the Concorde project to enable the Northern(Alstom Refurb) and Southern(EDI refurb) Comeng fleet to electrically communicate with each other.

As I said earlier Westall has changed quite a bit. Here the 1455 shunt with a 6 car Southern Comeng is going through Platform 1.
These days there's another platform and station buildings.

Another day another Southern Comeng leaving Westall on the 1455 shunt.

It was thought back in 2007 the Hitachi fleet was on it's last legs. Well until patronage said they were well needed. Here at Westall still in it's The Met era livery is 144M-191T-9M-233M-2007T-23M arrive with a Flinders Street bound train.

VLocity 1134-1234 in original 2 car condition comes through with an up Gippsland train.
The VLocity trains are much different these day with a different livery(well 3 different liveries) new headlights is and a new carriage.

Ending its 900km Jouney at Southern Cross station is a 6 car XPT with XP2012 on the rear. The power cars are still in the old Countrylink livery with the carriages in the new livery.
