I'm on this service tonight, and speaking to the buffet staff, that this service is not running tommorow 4th feb, yet running somewhere at 10pm tommorow night, what's with this? Anyone confirm this, the staff memeber said we are only working down tommorow, and not working back up x

Transport Direct shows the 16:15 as being a stopping service to Hereford tomorrow (arrive 17:23) , and returning at 17:42 to Cardiff Central.

(Stops at Newport, Cwmbran, Pontypool & New Inn and Abergavenny/vice versa)

Wales v England at the millenium stadium with a 1945 kickoff. So would expect it returns between 2100 & 2130.

Anyone know if its returning back down to HHD after morning WAG duties, then running up to Cardiff as a rugby special, which it does on Saturdays, usually with added carriages but no dining car.

I can not see it being left in Cardiff for 12 hours. Nothing on ATW web site about times or specials, other than usual blurb about extra capacity, you guys in the trade should know if its being sent back down to HHD as an empty stock run.

It would be later than that, to allow for the match to finish and people to get out of the stadium and over to the station. I doubt the game will finish much before 2130 whne you allow for injury time and half time!

the morning WAG is on its way up to Cardiff, anyone seen the formation of the rake, and is it going back to Holyhead to run as a Rugby Special, I can not see it just running back at 2200 or so from Cardiff without it being used to bring rugby passengers to Cardiff in the afternoon from the North.

If it is being sent back empty to Holyhead, with extra carriages & then dump the diner, its a hell of a waste of diesel, but the WAG will have paid for this out of the £1.7M sub.

It stops at an awful lot of wayside halts in Shropshire & Cheshire, yet large towns like Colwyn Bay or flint for that matter are by passed.

Anyone know if this train started at Holyhead PM, after running the AM Wag Up service in the morning,

I would have assumed it sat at Canton all day after working the 05:32 ex Holyhead, and had the extra coaches marshalled and buffet removed.

The WAG ministers meanwhile probably had a 175 with trolley service to look forward to on the 16:15 ex Cardiff.:p

No chance of that, they would be wined & dined at the Millennium Stadium or flown back on the WAG aircraft to Valley.I understand the 1615 was a DMU to Hereford only.

Now if the buffet is at Canton, unless locked out on the return (2210), it will have to be returned for Monday

According to the NR journey planner, there was another extra leaving Cardiff about 25 minutes later than the WAG, and travelling via Wrexham, and that stopped along the N.Wales coast!

That, as you say, is the problem with the ATW website. Just saying there will be extra trains without giving details of their timing is not very helpful. Passengers, especially those who already possess timetables, are not going to hunt through the NR journey planner to discover what these "extra services" actually consist of!

fully agree,if the service is not advertised, how can one use it,Atw do have a poor website, the average pax is not going to know about planners etc,so why not put it up.
