ATW periodicallyy publish posters, with a selection of real cases involved, such as "Sarah from Newport" was fined £300 for travelling without a ticket between Cardiff and Swansea. Don't be a MUG etc...

From my memory of taking cases to Court, his past record may be considered at the sentencing stage.
That is still true. Previous convictions which are in any way relevant to the matter in hand can be taken as 'aggravating' factors, after determining the 'Starting Point" of a Sentence.

All Court Hearings are a matter of Public Record so available to anyone. If the Press are they they may report it.
That is also correct, but there is very inconsistent recording of proceedings, and transcripts are not normally produced. It is prudent for the parties to a hearing to provide their own verbatim report, the only definitive Court record in a Magistrates' Court will be the Clerk's notes, and while these can be copied for the parties on request, are hardly going to be comprehensive.
Higher Courts have a much higher standard of transcription which, with few exceptions, are available on request (often subject to a small admin fee).

Would the caution be taken into account even though it was part of the same event and he has paid all costs incurred and BTP have the matter as settled. Also as he is not attending can I take it that prison is not an option as I cannot see a starting point for guilty plea in magistrates guidelines.

Prison won't happen. I've had fare-dodgers with lots of previous who have assaulted me and the police receive suspended sentences.

He was cautioned for the criminal damage, this may be an aggravating factor, I don't think it will worry the bench much.

He cannot receive a Conditional Discharge and a Fine. Your son is looking at a fine in the range I posted earlier. He will not go to jail.
