Hi,

Does anybody have any info about the disruption about the disruption to the Marches line (Crewe-Shrews-Hereford-Newport)?

Have heard that there's cable theft at Church Stretton, between Shrews and Wrexam and on top of that, a freight broken down (which can mean anything from stalled to ablaze) between Crewe and Shrews @ Yorton.

Any information about the freight + what the problem is? And is this disrupting up trains (CDF-HFD)? I saw a Manchester service in the bay at Hfd.

Thanks,

Andy

There has been problems pretty much on that line all week
I believe the cable theft happened overnight because I was delayed getting back to Cardiff cos of trespassers on the line South Of Shrewsbury and in the Ludlow area.

For some reason also last night there was also problems in the Gobowen area

Plus on Monday there was 2 broken down freight trains in the Ludlow area too (that one went completely unnoticed by National Rail Enquiries) but there delays of 45 mins that day

My colleague got on the 9:36 NWP-HHD OK and it went trundling off on time so I assume things are back to normal. I'm RD today, thank god it seems.

Must have been OK Wednesday as got the 07:44 ATW from Wilmslow to Manchester. Apart from the fact it was just a 2-coach 158 and was so packed the pax were filling the aisles and vestibules, it was on time.

2 coaches on that train - ludicrous!

Agree, thats the 0435 from Cardiff, two coach is around normal for this run, usually the later ones are jam packed on arrival in Cardiff.

Yet WAG2,175 taken off the franchise lies idle in Cardiff for six hours, and only runs a third full or less when I use it.

But that's only 2 x coaches also.

Given the time of day WAG2 runs the passengers on it can easily be accommodated on other services however that 2 car would be useful in alleviating peak crowding whether it be on an ATW service into Manchester or Cardiff or freeing up a 158 so that the 0731 Salop to BHM INTL (0514 ex Aberystwyth) can run with 6 cars though not all 6 would be needed form Aberystwyth.

Actually I use this service quite a lot and it is almost always a 3-car 175, jammed after Shrewsbury!

0719 off Salop? Always busy as its the main commuter train into Hereford. Private School , FE College students plus other commuters from Ludlow/Leominister. It then thins out and picks up again Abergavenny southwards as its a shoulder peak arrival into Cardiff arr 0917.

This morning was fun as the 0644 off Salop had been cancelled due to a driver phoning in sick at last minute.
