Personally, I like it in a way. Not too snazzy and removes that stupid First moquette :D

Moquette? I'm not familiar with that term. I can't actually remember any First branding inside a 175, unlike, for example, a FGW HST with the logo on the rear of each seat.

The plain and simple 'gray' design reminds me of WSMR's refurbished carriages.

Been a while since travelled on a 175 so can anyone tell me if the bay of 4 seats ever had tables as if they did it looks like they've been removed, going from that picture.

Yes, there were/are tables in the Bays of 4 seats. Very useful for doing last minute uni-work preparation on the train between Wilmslow and Manchester :D Why would ATW have removed them? Have extra seats been put in? Otherwise, its a really retrograde step.

I can see at least three tables in that photo alone.....and,as it was me that took the photo, I can confirm that all the tables are still present ;)

I know that on at least one of coaches the first bay only has 'mini' tables which I always thought was extra wheelchair space - but I could be wrong.

Moquette is what seats are covered in on most public transport.

Apart from the grey, it's the same as what Arriva now use in their buses.

Thanks. Having been on holiday in an area with a lot of First-operated buses, I understand what was meant by the 'First' moquette. But having only seen it on Arriva's trains, rather than think a 175 is First-themed, I felt like I was on a railbus version of a 175!

I will miss the purple, but the FNW carpet was putrid.

Have they done anything in the vestibules?

The only (visible) work done is replacing the carpets and seat covers throughout (including vestibules). Some purple remains: the tables and hard furnishings are all the same. Chair arms and doorways are still scuffed where the trolleys have trundled past over the years. The big improvement is replacing the worn-out carpets.

Having now seen the interior first hand, I think it looks great as the blue is lighter than it appears in pics.
A massive improvement, well done ATW!

Never mind poncing about with new carpets and stuff, how about making the two-coach units into three-coachs or more? The 2-coach trains are often hopelessly overcrowded.

Sorry, tell me how you make them into 3 car units as if its just a refurbishment? Sorry, my bad, they could put in all of the 175/180 centre cars that are lying around gathering dust

I don't understand that.... "my bad"?

I think what you mean is there are no spare centre cars. Well, obviously not. But the centre cars that do exist weren't brought into being by magic or gifted by Martians, they were built in a factory. Does it not occur to you that that is a process that could be repeated?

You think it is viable to build eleven carriages of a design which is over ten years old? Besides which, it is not for ATW to do anyway.

I was saying, I just love how you think it is that easy, just build some new centre cars. Do you think ATW can just think, I know lets build some new cars?

Are you really that stupid that you think it is that simple? If it was that simple, do you think Northern really like their paces and were offered some new trains but turned them down?
