I have noticed a 153 on a Pembroke Dock Diagram quite a few times in recent weeks, its the one that starts at Cardiff 6.42am and runs to Pembroke Dock. When ive seen it recently its been a single 153. I wondered if this is now booked 153 or is it just a case that the wrong unit appeared on the wrong diagram quite a few times?

I thought the 153 diagrams were;

3x HOW/Swanline
1x Cardiff Bay
1x City Line
2x Ebbw Vale (along with a 150)

And the 8th set booked into Canton for maintenance

That's right. Only going to Pembroke Dock due to shortages.

Is that because the 150s are having to cover so many 175 and 158 diagrams?

I wonder what the loading are like for a 150 on the Pembroke Dock branch in winter. In winter it was always single 153s and only in summer we would see 2 car sets.

Too many units of all classes out of action for repairs than there should be. Short formed trains every day and, as you say, 150s working vice 158s and 175s.

I have a question you may be able to answer.

Ive noticed the 0714 Cardiff-Swansea (swanline service) is usually formed of 2 x153s. I know 1 of the 153s forms the next HOW service from Swansea, where does the other one go?

Goes back attached to 150 on 1110 Swanline and then Ebbw Vale strengthening

There is at least one spare 150 set floating about to help cover as the Conwy Valley line is still closed due to risk of a landslip. So that set is spare.

Network rail carried out an aerial survey and have carried out some de-vegetation work. But don't seem in any great hurry to get the line reopened.

Closed since Feb 23rd, it looks as though it will be RRB for the foreseeable
