Hi guys,

I just got a question regards railway jobs.

I currently work in the railway and have a job which has additional increments to salary such as attendance allowance.

My question is shortly end of April I have agreed to move to another TOC, didn't want to ask at the interview about salary additions.

Can anyone advise if attendance allowances and sunday not being in the working week is a general standard.

Any assistance towards understanding this would be appreciated.

In a nutshell: No, it’s not a general standard, however the railway, as you probably know, tends to have generally good conditions.

It depends on the type of job and TOC as to what salary enhancements and terms you get.

Aye..... I was surprised at the start when I heard we got attendance allowance as my previous job in IT that wasn't the case. Hence why I'm sticking with railway as the perks do add up. Wonder if I should DARE to ask???

Nothing wrong with asking, even at an interview. It’s all about getting an oversight of the job and company you’ve applied for. Certainly now, they’re not going to withdraw an offer based on the fact that you have asked certain questions.
